Hey everyone, both old and new subscribers! I’m very happy to announce DTO newsletter is back with full force!

Why such long absence? First of all, I apologize for that and promise consistency in the future.

Another set of reasons is provided by the fact that 2022 has been very eventful in both positive and negative ways. Let’s focus on the positives here:

  • In 2022 I’ve become a father: our daughter Keira was born in January. Parenting has been challenging but very rewarding. There was never a time I felt happier than after Keira entered our lives. I’ll definitely share more about the parenting experiences & lessons learnt!

  • We’ve moved provinces! We used to live in Toronto, in the province of Ontario and have made a big move to Calgary, Alberta. The move required quite a bit of logistics but I am glad we took the risk. It’s been the biggest move for me since I’ve immigrated to Canada in 2011; it definitely stirred similar emotions & feelings. I’m going to cover the reasons and the experience around this big decision in the future newsletters.

I have a lot planned for this year so I hope you stick with me as we move forward! For now, here are some pics I took after our move to Calgary:

Articles

“On Schedule” by Seth Godin

Self-confidence comes from our ability to keep promises that we give to ourselves. Here’s a short “call to arms” from Seth.

Videos

How to Accomplish Your Dreams In ONE HOUR A Day with Steven Pressfield | Marie Forleo

Of all videos I’ve watched in 2022 this one has the most impact on me. I am a huge fan of Steven Pressfield’s work (both fiction and non-fiction). This interview is jam-packed with wisdom and is guaranteed to inspire you to make progress in your creative pursuits. I’ve watched it in full at least 3 times.

20 Reasons To Own Less Stuff | Gabe Bult

I’m on a never-ending journey to minimize and limit my possessions. Gabe to the rescue! I, like a lot of us, have what Vicki Robin (in her book “Your Money or Your Life”) calls “gazingus pin”. It’s a relatively cheap item you are likely to buy whenever you see it in store, even if you already have multiple.

My gazingus pins are: books, planners, USB sticks, portable power banks, books, stickers, various cables, fun mugs and t-shirts and the list goes on and on. I understand that I can only drink from one mug but whenever I see a cool one in store, I am filled with desire to buy it and have to “have a talk with myself” to make the urge to buy go away.

I highly recommend Gabe’s channel - lots of information that will likely fatten up your wallet and increase your personal freedom and happiness. If you watch one of his early videos and then one of the more recent ones, you can see how he’s grown the quality of the channel.

What Millennials Do After Graduation | Michael Palascak

I’m including this stand-up just for fun! Might not be your kind of humour, but if it is, you’ll have a blast!

If you've never made money working for yourself, don't build some big plan on how to make $500,000. Instead, ask yourself, "what would I do if I needed to make $100 online in the next 24 hours?" You probably know what you would do. So go do that thing.
